In the last hour, the rock legends that are Aerosmith have announced their retirement from the touring stage and cancelled all upcoming shows via social media. The news brings a sense of sadness to fans around the world, as they come to terms with the end of an iconic era in rock music.
The retirement announcement from Steven Tyler and his bandmates has shocked fans worldwide. Despite undergoing treatments, Steven Tyler’s golden voice has yet to return to its earlier atmospheric heights, leading to his struggles over the past few years.
Steven Tyler first had problems with his voice back in 2006 when he blew out a blood vessel in his vocal cords but his most recent issues with his voice seemed serious due to bleeding inside his vocal cords. Early 2023 and 2024 saw Aerosmith either cancel or postpone their shows which included the 2020 European Tour being completely cancelled leaving fans utterly devastated.
Aerosmith announced on their social media about Mr Tyler’s vocal problems when shows were first postponed and it was unknown if Tyler would make a recovery but sadly it has become clear that it isn’t to be. Tyler has seen many medical professionals but his vocals are beyond repair which has forced the hand of the band to make this gut wrenching decision.
Dream On Boys

The bad boys from Boston have had a wild ride through the past 50 years and gave us one of the most memorable and talented songwriting duos in the rocking world, the Toxic Twins. Joe Perry and Steven Tyler have penned many hits and with their band mates Brad Whitfield, Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer have created one of the greatest rock n roll bands of all time.
They began their journey in Boston, performing in high schools and small dive bars around the city, before making their way to some of the largest arenas across the globe. Their sound has evolved over the years, encompassing a diverse range of genres like arena rock, glam metal, blues, and a touch of pop rock. The band hit the big time with their third album “Toys in the Attic” and gained notoriety for their antics both on and off the stage.
Perry and Whitfield left the band in 1979 and 1981 (respectively) but came back with a bang in 1984. The band once again achieved great success with their album “Permenant Vacation” and a collaboration of their hit “Walk This Way” with rap artists Run DMC.
They continued to have unrivalled success in the 80s and 90s including multi platinum albums and number one singles including the official soundtrack to the 1997 film, Armageddon (which his daughter Liv Tyler starred in) with “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”. And don’t forget going into the 21st century, Aerosmith managed to reach new fans through the medium of video games. Aerosmith had their own version of Guitar Hero where you played all their hits as the band started in Nipmuc High School in Massechucetts, to playing Madison Square Gardens and beyond.
From 2019 to 2022, the guys had a residency in Las Vegas with hopes of a European tour which was sadly dashed due to COVID restrictions and Steven Tyler’s health issues.
Fans across the world will be devastated by the news but the band has achieved so much in their 50 year history.
