The Drop

Here is a collection of what is happening in the world of singles, albums, tours, gigs and all that jazz in January! This month it is mainly albums but I can’t wait to see what else we have going on in the year!

Black Witch Bomb, Adam and the Hellcats – Bristolian rockers Adam and the Hellcats have a new single for you all to crank up in anticipation of their new album and tour. You can grab “Black Witch Bomb” from today! Following hot on the heels of previously released singles “Victory March” and “Demons”, the album “Catalyst” is dropping 1st February and you can pre-order it now! A Little Overdressed, Trench Dogs – Sweden’s finest Glam Punk band Trench Dogs are back with a brand new single and video launching on 13th January 2023. After signing to Wild Kingdom and Sound Pollution Distribution, Andy and the guys have been sharing their studio diaries on social media getting fans very excited. They are back playing HRH Sleaze in August 2023. Not only have they got a new single, they also have a new album, “Stockholmiana”, coming out on 3rd March 2023. Sunwind Sails, Big City – One of the finest melodic hard rock/metal bands to come out of Norway, Big City are about to drop their new album “Sunwind Sails” showcasing the brilliant vocal talents of their new vocalist, Jørgen Bergersen! Life, Death and Rock N Roll, Killcode – NYC hard rockers Killcode are back and louder than ever! They released a single “Let’s Get Back to Rock N Roll” (listen here now) back on 16th December which certainly says the guys are back and ready to party. This single is just a sneak preview of what is yet to come from the guys and they announced the drop of their new album, “Life, Death and Rock n Roll” via NYC born (but L.A. based) record label, Mother West on 20th January 2023. Lights of Japan, ISSA – Norway’s melodic rock queen, Issa is back with a brand new album back with soaring vocals, captivating melodies and catchy hooks. “Lights of Japan” is Issa’s 7th album and worked with a whole host of amazingly talented people, including her husband James Martin and his brother Tim (both former members of UK melodic rock band VEGA). There is already a music video for the title track of the album with one viewer claiming “OMG, loving this so much! Something Wicked This Way Comes, Ten – UK hard rockers Ten, are back with a follow up album to 2022’s release “Here Be Monsters” called “Something Wicked This Way Comes”. Gary Hughes (vocalist) started the band off as a solo project before growing and the demand for their amazing performances were too hard to ignore. 26 years and 15 studio albums later, Ten show no signs of slowly down remaining a big staple in the fabric of the British rock scene. Raised on Heavy Radio, Ronnie Romero – A name known far and wide in the melodic/hard rock community, Ronnie Romero is back with a follow up (or a companion album) to his covers album “Raised on Radio” with, “Raised on Heavy Radio“. Ronnie has been seen and heard all over the hard rock and metal scene with the likes of Lords of Black, The Ferrymen, Sunstorm, Rainbow, and the Michael Schenker Group to name a few. “Raised on Heavy Radio” features special guests including  Gus G. (Firewind, Ozzy Osbourne), Chris Caffery (Savatage, Spirits Of Fire), Roland Grapow (Masterplan, Helloween), and more. The album pays a tribute to greats such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and many more. Unity, Arctic Rain – Swedish melodic rockers Arctic Rain are back with their second album “Unity“. Their first album “The One” was released back in July 2020 to rave reviews. The band wanted to create music with strong melodic rock vibes based around the type of tasteful instrumental harmonies typical for a lot of bands in the ’80s and ’90s. With these influences they add a modern twist to AOR, Arctic Rain achieved this with “The One” and are continuing it with “Unity”. The album drops 27th January 2023 via Frontiers Music Srl and you can listen to the single “Unity” over on Spotify now! Genre: Melodic Rock

Operation Phoenix, Crowne – If you ever wanted a Swedish melodic hard rock supergroup, Crowne is your band! Composed of members from H.E.A.T, The Poodles, Dynazty, Europe and Art Nation, Crowne is delivering a perfect dose of melodic hard rock to get you fired up through the winter months with their second album, “Operation Phoenix”. Produced by member Jona Tee (New Horizon, H.E.A.T) it is a perfect blend of metal and melodic rock raising through the northern skies. 2 Make U Cry & Dance, Electric Mob – Brazilian rock n rollers Electric Mob‘s second album “2 Make U Cry & Dance” is dropping 27th January 2023. After storming onto the hard rock scene in 2020, these guys have not stopped. Taking on the heavy riffs and grooves of the 70s, 80s and 90s, then layered with powerful vocals and naught guitars, Electric Mob are showing world that Brazil has the heart of rock and roll. Hoping to surpass the success of their debut album “Discharge”, they are definitely a band to watch out for at rock festivals across the globe.
